The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH WIND WARNING for the Bismarck-Mandan area and a BLIZZARD WATCH  east of Bismarck. The high wind watch is no longer in effect. The area can expect winds from 50- 60 MPH and residents are urged to secure loose items and objects that could get blown around as well as dangerous travel conditions for high profile vehicles.

UPDATE- 1/16, 6:00 AM-Winds have been observed at 61 MPH with the highest winds in Bismarck at 67MPH- The winds will continue through the morning and subside this afternoon, but winds will still be at 30-40 MPH this afternoon as the systems moves south. Some travel conditions are hazardous through out the state. A few flights from Minot Airport have been canceled this morning due to winds.

UPDATE 1/16 7:30AM- NDDOT ISSUED A NO TRAVEL ADVISORY for Bismarck, Mandan, Minot, Grand Forks and Devils Lake due to reduced visibility, near ZERO in most areas, blowing and drifting snow.

The HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect from Midnight tonight until 6 PM Thursday. A BLIZZARD WATCH is in effect for areas to the east of Bismarck for blowing and drifting snow.

Travel will be effected as well as property damage is possible as this system moves thorough the area.
