MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Authorities have identified a 15-year-old boy who was killed in a hunting accident in the opening weekend of deer season.

KXMC-TV says Alex Lutes, of Minot, was killed in what appears to be an accident Saturday morning.

Lutes was hunting with his father. McClean County Chief Deputy J.R. Kerzmann called the incident "a sad, bad deal."

Memorial services will be held for Lutes at First Lutheran Church in Minot on Friday. People attending the funeral are asked to wear red in his memory and bring a canned food item.

An investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff's Office, North Dakota Game and Fish and the North Dakota State Medical Examiner's office.
