BOTTINEAU, N.D. (AP) — Lake Metigoshe State Park this weekend is hosting a 50th anniversary celebration for the state Parks and Recreation Department.

The Saturday event will include food, entertainment, a golden anniversary tree planting, and a guided hike on the Old Oak Trail. The Old Oak in 1976 became North Dakota's first National Recreation Trail.

The event at the northern park is one of 13 around the state this year celebrating the 50th anniversary of Parks and Rec. Department Director Mark Zimmerman will speak, and the department's 50th Anniversary Traveling Exhibit trailer will be open for tours.
