A police officer is being investigated for arresting a lesbian couple for a public display of affection.

The two girls from Los Angeles filed a lawsuit in federal court Tuesday said they were harassed and arrested because the officer did not approve of their kissing in public at a  supermarket on Oahu's North Shore in Hawaii.

According to the lawsuit, the girls were shopping, holding hands and at one point kissed each other when the off duty officer in uniform told them to take it somewhere else. He saw the girls smooch again and during the check out lane, Officer Bobby Harrison, grabbed one of the girls and said `you girls don't know how to act. You don't know the difference between a motel and a grocery store."'

The women were cuffed and arrested with a felony charge of assault on an officer.
