MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Increases in home values ranging from 25 percent to 60 percent are raising eyebrows in Mandan.

Former city commissioner and retiree Bruce Boehm says his property taxes are set to go up more than $600 next year, and he's on a fixed income. He says it's "mind-boggling."

Keith Kautzman says his property taxes might go up $1,000 next year. He says the housing market might be driving the increased valuations, but they still shouldn't go up so sharply.

City Assessor Shirley Shaw tells The Bismarck Tribune people who think their tax valuations are out of line should check for errors and make an appointment to review the new valuation.
