According to a press release from the Mandan Progress Organization, the Art in the Park committee have cancelled the 2020 Art in the Park over the Fourth of July.  However, they will still offer space to vendors interested in exhibiting.

The welfare and availability of volunteers and vendors ultimately sealed the fate of this years event.  The safety of spectators, vendors and volunteers due to COVID-19 was the biggest concern.  Also, the committee didn't want to produce a mediocre show, and instead to chose to focus on making 2021 even bigger and better.  The event was not rescheduled due to scheduling conflicts.  Mandan Progress Organization has other events it's locked into, as do the vendors.

The Mandan Progress Organization is working on another event that will cater to the vendors who are still interested in selling merchandise and food.  This event will be called "Mandan Market" and it is NOT "Art in the Park"!  The Mandan Market will open up park and street space for vendors and food trucks without the full programming that Art in the Park has become legendary for.  If you would like to become a volunteer in the Mandan Market call 701-751-2938 for details.  You can also email Kristin Haug at kristinhaug@mandanprogress.org

So if you're wondering why "Mandan Market" can happen and why "Art in the Park can't?"  It comes down to this.  Smaller size and simple logistics according the press release from Mandan Progress Organization.

At least you have one event to look forward to over July 4th in Mandan and look for "Art in the Park" to be back next year and bigger than ever.
