WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — Williston's mayor says removing strip clubs from downtown is not an act of ill will against adult entertainment businesses but rather part of a larger vision for the oil patch hub.

Howard Klug tells the Williston Herald he thinks Williston will be a regional center. He foresees even more businesses in a revamped downtown when oil rebounds.

The City Commission last month restricted all exotic dancing to industrial zones on the city's outer fringe within a year.

There are two strip clubs downtown. Officials at Whispers have said that club plans to operate solely as a bar.

Heartbreakers owner Jared Holbrook says finding money to move to a new location might take him more than a year if the economy doesn't pick up, and he might need an extension.
