If you're dreaming of a white Christmas, you're going to get it. And a lot of it.

The National Weather Service in Bismarck has already issued a Blizzard Watch for Christmas Day. It is in effect beginning at 6am Sunday and will continue until Monday at noon.

This storm is still being tracked and so snowfall amounts are still unknown. The National Weather Service simply states that, 'heavy snowfall accumulations are possible.'

The Blizzard Watch means that there is the potential for falling and/or blowing snow along with heavy winds that will create reduced visibilities.

The Blizzard Watch is in effect for most of Western and Central North Dakota and encompasses nearly 40 counties including Burleigh, Morton, Kidder, McLean, Oliver, Mercer, Emmons, Grant and Sheridan.

The National Weather Service does not give a range of potential snowfall as it is still too early to tell. However, Accuweather projects roughly six inches of snowfall during the day Sunday and an additional five inches on Sunday night.

It is probably fair to say that when it is all said and done we can have between six inches and over a foot of snow. However we will keep you updated.
