A Fargo Shanley football player just put himself into the North Dakota record books.  He just smashed the current longest field goal record of 52 yards with a 58 yard field goal. The kickers name is Emmet Kenney who kicks for the Fargo Shanley Deacons. The game happened this past Friday night in West Fargo. Despite the massive kick, Emmet's Fargo Shanley Deacons lost to the West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs 43-38 at Essentia Health Mustang Stadium. Both teams came into the game unbeaten at 2-0 in the Eastern Dakota Conference.

Safe to say this kid will be kicking field goals at a division one college football program in the future? Yes, I defiantly think so! According to an article on WDAY TV Emmet Kenney has already had division one offers from North Dakota State and South Dakota.  After the kick on Friday Night, Emmet Kenney also received props from a former NFL kicker Lawrence Tynes, who is a two-time Super Bowl champion.  Lawrence said, "That’s a big time kick for a High School kid or anyone for that matter," Tynes wrote on Twitter.

Emmet Kenney is certainly on the radar for college coaches.  He currently ranks #21 in the country for kickers in the class of 2021.  That's right, he's only a Junior with a very big leg and frame to go with it.  He's 6-foot-4, 180 pounds and is certainly one of the top prep kicking prospects in the country for sure.

According to the article, the two previous longest kicks in North Dakota High School football were 52 yards by a Fargo South Kicker named  Jacob Weiler in 2012.  The 3rd longest kick in North Dakota history belongs to former pro baseball player Darin Erstad of Jamestown who booted a 50 yard field goal in 1991.
