North Dakota Drivers Warned To Watch For Deer

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Now that fall is here, North Dakota's Game and Fish Department is reminding motorists to be on the lookout for deer as they drive.

Wildlife officials say this is the time of year when young deer are dispersing from their home ranges. October through early December is the peak period for deer-vehicle accidents.

State Farm's annual ranking of states in terms of the likelihood of deer-vehicle collisions puts North Dakota 14th.

Most deer-vehicle crashes happen around dawn and dusk, when deer are most often moving around. Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution.
