BISMARCK ,N.D. (AP) — North Dakota has its first confirmed flu death of the season.

Health Department epidemiologist Jill Baber says the case was in a woman older than 65 who lived in the northeastern part of the state.

So far this season there have been nearly 1,900 confirmed cases of the flu in North Dakota, with 62 hospitalizations.

Complications from the flu and pneumonia contribute to the deaths of more than 400 North Dakotans each year.
