I know you have said or heard someone mention how bad the drivers are in Bismarck.

Now, there is proof how dangerous our drivers are in the state. 24/7 Wall St. recently published the most dangerous highways in the nation and though North Dakota did not rank as the most dangerous, The Peace Garden state did rank fairly high on the list. Automobile accidents are the number on killer for adults ages 54 and under and there are more highway deaths across the U.S. since 2008.

The most dangerous roads are in the South as the Midwest has some of the safest.

Nevertheless, North Dakota ranked #13 in the nation. According to the statistics, North Dakota is good at using seatbelts at 83% and a majority of the fatal crashes happen on rural roads in the state. The safest highways are in  Rhode Island and the most dangerous highways are located in Mississippi.

The methodology used was data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Federal Highway Administration, each for 2016.
