Peace Officer Memorial Day in North Dakota

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota is remembering its fallen law enforcement officers.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple has declared Friday as Peace Officers Memorial Day, in accordance with a proclamation signed by President Barack Obama.

The governor has directed all government agencies to fly the American and North Dakota flags at hall-staff from sunrise to sunset.

Dalrymple says North Dakota remains one of the safest states in the nation due in large part to the law enforcement officers who "put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities and our citizens safe."
