North Dakota Sheriff Rescued During Blizzard

GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) — Snowplows came to the rescue of a county sheriff in northeastern North Dakota who became stranded while trying to help others during a blizzard.

Walsh County Sheriff Lauren Wild tells KFGO radio he headed out during Monday's blizzard to rescue two people who had run out of gas on Interstate 29 near Grafton. He made it to within a couple miles of their car when his four-wheel-drive truck got stuck.

Wild says he had a full tank of gas and was in constant radio contact with his office, so he wasn't worried. Snowplows came out from Grand Forks to get him and the two people he had gone to rescue.
