BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The Williston Basin Petroleum Conference will be held once again in Bismarck in 2018, despite interest from Fargo.

The annual conference brings together thousands of oil industry officials and experts to talk about technology, regulations and other issues. It alternates between sites in North Dakota and Canada, and was held in Bismarck this year.

The Bismarck Tribune reports the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau had a booth at this year's conference to promote the city and express interest in hosting the annual event.

North Dakota Petroleum Council Vice President Kari Cutting says conference attendees like Bismarck, and that "there are some perks to staying in the same place with our small staff." She says Bismarck was an easy choice for 2018.

The 2017 conference will be in Regina, Saskatchewan.
