Portion of River Road Has Been Closed...Again

If your commute to Bismarck from Misty Waters, Hogue Island or other points North of town take you along River Road, your travel time just got longer.  According to our friends at KFYR-TV, the Burleigh County Sheriffs Department have cited public safety concerns on the roadway.

BISMARCK, N.D. - The Burleigh County Sheriff's Department has blocked off a portion of River Rd., between Wilderness Cove and Sandy River Dr., the same site where there was a landslide back on December 22nd.

Authorities say there hasn't been another landslide.

However, they say the hill is crumbling and the highway department is putting up barriers tonight as a precaution.

If you recall, traffic was previously disrupted through the Holidays and cleanup was extensive.  As of right now, the closure is precautionary, but there is no word as to how long a detour will need to be in place.  Until a permanent solution can be found or drier conditions arrive, it looks like accessing Bismark from the Northwest will continue to be complicated.
