Hundreds of protesters gathered today at Governor Tim Walz residence in St. Paul in protest of Minnesota's "shelter-in-place" orders.  According to an article on Channel 5 KSTP's website many of them waving flags and holding signs in protest.

The event was organized by a group on facebook called "Liberate Minnesota".  The protesters were urging the Governor to re-open the states businesses despite the coronavirus pandemic. Protesters waved flags and signs saying "freedom over fear" and "land of the free" as car drove by the Governor's residence on Summit avenue.

In perhaps a related response, according to another story on KSTP's website Governor Walz eased some restrictions today in Minnesota's outdoors allowing golf courses to open, driving ranges, bait shops, outdoor shooting ranges and boating services.  The order goes into effect at 5am Saturday morning.

So, I would say this is a sign that the Minnesota Fishing opener will go on as planned on Saturday, May 9th.
