Now, I have been lucky to not be without during the pandemic, but many people are struggling to find everything from toilet paper to Tylenol. I've also heard complaints of price gouging on essential products. The Justice Department WANTS you to report any COVID-19 fraud you may come across.
The Department of Justice is remaining vigilant in detecting, investigating, and prosecuting wrongdoing related to the crisis. In a memo to U.S. Attorneys, Attorney General Barr said, "The pandemic is dangerous enough without wrongdoers seeking to profit from public panic and this sort of conduct cannot be tolerated."
If you have information on hoarding or price gouging of essentials, you're encouraged to report it. It's easy to contact the National Center for Disaster Fraud from home. You can call the national hotline at (866) 720-5721 or email email@example.com. For more information, check out the this page from the Justice Department.
