VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — Rescue crews are continuing the search for a Valley City State University student who went missing while rafting with two friends on the Sheyenne River.

The missing man hasn't been identified. He and two fellow male students fell out of a rubber raft early Monday. His two friends made it to shore but he did not.

Bald Hill Dam Resource Manager Rich Schueneman tells KOVC radio that water releases are being cut back to lower the level of the river. Fire Chief Gary Retterath says officials secured by ropes will wade into the river to search.
