A star defensive player for the Bismarck Bucks arena football team died early Wednesday morning.

Brenden Daley, originally from California who played college football at Hawaii died of a brain aneurysm according to reports.

Daley was 26 years old. News of the death spread throughout the community during the day but the Bismarck Bucks officially announced the news via their Facebook page on Thursday evening.

Daley had spent some time with the Atlanta Falcons in training camp before ultimately ending up in Bismarck for the Bucks' inaugural season.

Daley was the Champion Indoor Football (CIF) Defensive Player of the Week in week 14 of the 2017 season.

Daley's 9.5 sacks on the season was the second most in the CIF in 2017. His 61 tackles was the fourth most on the Bucks. He averaged 5.1 tackles per game. Daley missed a few weeks due to a leg injury.

It was not definitive that Daley would return to the Bucks for the 2018 season. The Star Advertiser, a paper in Honolulu, reported that he was considering playing in China with the Qingdao Clippers.

We were fortunate enough to interview Daley a few times during the season and in addition to being a very talented player on the field, he was an incredibly enthusiastic individual who enjoyed every moment of life and lived life to its fullest.

Daley clearly loved interacting with fans in the community and he will be greatly missed. We wish the best to Daley's friends, family, and teammates.
