BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Misdemeanor theft charges are pending against a Dickinson couple who allegedly stole a 7-week-old puppy from an animal shelter in Mandan.

The Bismarck Tribune reports the mixed-breed dog was taken from the Central Dakota Humane Society last week.

Shelter officials say a man and woman allegedly took the puppy from the shelter and drove away. A worker at the shelter recorded the vehicle's license plate number.

Morton County Sheriff Dave Shipman says the puppy was found Saturday at the residence of the couple alleged to have stolen him.
