FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Recent storms in North Dakota have damaged some small grain and hay crops.

The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that heavy rains and hail damaged small grains in the northeastern part of the state, though the extent of the damage wasn't immediately clear.

Some producers in the region also have been burning hay due to rot caused by persistent wet weather.

The report says that in other areas of the state, warm, dry conditions have helped the development of row crops and enabled ranchers to put up quality hay.

The state's staple spring wheat crop is rated in 82 percent good to excellent condition.
