Thanksgiving Dinner Will Cost You More This Year

I usually do most of the cooking (my wife does the baking) for big holidays.  I love putting on a big spread...turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce (jellied from a can because that's the best kind), green bean casserole, corn chowder...all of it!  The good news is that it will cost me less for the turkey than last year.  Here are the totals from today's SURVEY OF THE DAY:

Cost Of Thanksgiving:

The cost of this year's Thanksgiving dinner is going to average $41.91. That's up one cent from last year. Other findings:

- The cost of turkey is $1.30 a pound. That's down 4% from last year and the lowest price since 2010.

- 90% of Americans are planning to celebrate Thanksgiving with a special meal.

- 95% of people are planning to serve turkey on Thanksgiving

- 50% of people are planning to serve Thanksgiving and ham together on Thanksgiving.

- The cost of ham is up 63 cents from last year.

If you are spending time with family this year, make sure to not only carve the turkey, but carve out some YOU time as well.

Family Survey

A new holiday survey by Motel 6 reveals that the average person spends three hours and 54 minutes with their family before needing a break for themselves. Other findings:

- 25% of people have hidden in a relative's house to get a moment alone

- 30% of people believe the holidays would be more enjoyable if their entire family wasn't under the same roof at the same time

- 51% of women say cleaning the house is the most stressful part of the holidays

- 30% of people say making sure everyone gets along is the most stressful part of the holidays
