Theodore Roosevelt Park Proposes Fee Hike

MEDORA, N.D. (AP) — Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota is soliciting public feedback on planned fee increases.

The National Park Service has proposed doubling the per-vehicle cost to enter the park from $10 in 2014 to $20 in May 2015. The fee would increase to $25 by 2017. Annual park passes would rise from $20 to $40 in 2015 and to $50 in 2017. Campground fees would also increase.

The service is asking residents, stakeholders and officials to provide feedback on the proposal online or by mail.

Acting Superintendent Wendy Ross says the proposed fee hikes would allow the service to address long-standing deficiencies, improve visitor facilities and expand services.

The service says current park fees have remained unchanged since 2006.
