BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A popular global conference series will make its first stop in Bismarck at the University of Mary next month.

The Bismarck Tribune reports local residents will present on topics that explore the theme of "Reinventing Ideas," including health, education and technology, at the TEDx event on April 9. Melanie Carvell, Joe Berger, Amy Broadie, Matt Sagaser and Joel Honeyman, Justin Walsh and Morgan Forness are scheduled to appear as speakers.

Junior marketing major Liv Stromme says she and fellow students involved in TEDxUMary were inspired to host a local event after attending various TEDx shows in other parts of the state.

The students obtained a license from TED to host the upcoming event at the university.

The group plans to continue hosting TEDx events each year.
