Whew...

Where to start?

"Woke"...it's a word the internet is now in love with.  It implies that people have come across that epiphany moment where we see something clearly for what it really is. With the Washington Redskins, I had my "woke" moment about the Redskins decades ago and I'd appreciate if y'all had your moment right about now..

My dad's from South Carolina, so when he married his North Dakota sweetie- he had to bring her back home to meet the family!  Down south, even in the late 1950's, "colored" folks were expected to step off the sidewalk if white folks was walking on it. It was a shock to my mother. That's only 60 years ago in this country. Today, we like to think we're a little bit better than that.

I guess we're not.

I'm the least politically-correct person you'll ever know. So, as an entitled white man in America, I feel that no words should hurt.  Sticks and stones break my bones, but words will never hurt me.

A few years back I was in a bar with my friends- I worked in the bars and was pretty friendly with a lot of people.  One of my besty friends was shooting pool against another guy. My buddy is a bunch Chippewa and the guy he was playing was a Sioux. To me it seemed like a great time to ask the most ridiculously out-of-place question ever.

if you want to stop reading now...I'm OK with that.

So, I says..."Which are the "dog eaters" and which are the "rabbit eaters"?

I didn't get two pool cues upside my head for asking that...as i was genuinely curious. Of course, I was drinking that night- so I actually forget the answer. Guess I really don't care after all.

But imagine if I would have started it off as...

"HEY REDSKINS, which are the..."

Pool cues upside my head would have never let me finish the question.

But I'm talking about a buzzed guy in a bar. Not the capital of the United States of America.

"Redskins" will be going away because money is starting to talk.. It's the only thing we truly listen to. Just for goodness sake, don't listen to me.

Do no harm y'all...
