At this point, the Wednesday press conferences with Governor Doug Burgum about COVID-19 are routine events. But it was kind of a shocker to me when I heard that this week's briefing was suddenly rescheduled. What could be the meaning of this?

This afternoon (September 2), KFYR-TV reported that Governor Doug Burgum will hold the COVID-19 Response briefing on Thursday at 3:30 PM. The story says that the topic was meant to be about adjusting North Dakota's COVID-19 threat level. There is not much more information on why the conference has been rescheduled, but you can get more details from KFYR-TV here.

Now, we have been hearing that positive COVID-19 cases are on the rise in North Dakota. Schools in our state have already had to deal with positive cases and class has only been in-session for a matter of days (who would have thought that people would come to school, unknowingly infected?). On top of that, Grand Forks is now a hot spot for Coronavirus action. And we had already been seeing restaurants open-and-close because of positive cases. So, it is probably safe to say that we can expect our COVID-19 threat level to increase.

There is also word out that high-ranking federal health officials are in town to discuss the state of our state. If that information is real, I hope that does not mean North Dakota will be forced to overhaul its pandemic social distancing strategy. Because things can definitely get worse. But who really knows what could happen next at this point?

This is a bit nerve-racking. Is there a light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, or are we still lost in the dark with this mess?
