Officials in Leith Go After Prosecutor

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Officials in a small North Dakota town unsuccessfully targeted for takeover by a white supremacist have filed a complaint with the state against the prosecutor in the case who negotiated a plea deal that might keep Craig Cobb out of prison.

Leith Mayor Ryan Schock, City Councilman Lee Cook and city website developer Greg Bruce say prosecutor Todd Schwarz hasn't followed the town's wishes that Cobb get prison time for terrorizing residents. They want Schwarz censured and removed from the case.

Schwarz says he's handled the case properly, and he doesn't expect the complaint to affect it.

The 62-year-old Cobb is awaiting sentencing after agreeing to plead guilty to five misdemeanors and one felony in a deal that would spare him further jail time. A judge ordered a presentence investigation.
